Fun Facts of Lake TahoeLake Tahoe is fed by 63 streams and 2 hot springs.  According to scientists, if the massive volume of 39 trillion gallons of water were ever drained, it would take 700 years for the hot springs, snowmelt and precipitation to fill it again.
Duane LeRoy Bliss was a 19th century lumber baron who owned nearly 75% of Tahoe’s shoreline as well as the local steamboat line, the train system, and a variety of other businesses. In the 1930’s, his family donated about 800 acres of lakefront property to the State of California for D.L. Bliss State Park, home to North America’s highest elevation lighthouse. The largest alpine lake in North America, Lake Tahoe is roughly 22 miles long and 12 miles wide.
